How to Update and Unlock Your MFD2 DVD Navigation System

How to Update and Unlock Your MFD2 DVD Navigation System

If you have a Volkswagen MFD2 DVD navigation system in your car, you might want to update it to the latest version and unlock it to use self-burned DVDs. This can save you money and give you access to more features and maps. In this article, we will show you how to do it in three easy steps.

  • Burn the firmware and unlock CDs. You will need two CDs: one for updating the firmware and one for unlocking the DVD drive. You can download the files from this link. Use a good quality CD-R and burn them at low speed (2x-4x) using a software like ImgBurn or Nero. Label them as VWMFD2DVDEU0030.iso and UNLOCK CD respectively.

  • Update the firmware. Turn on the ignition and make sure there are no power interruptions. Press the NAV button on your unit and insert the VWMFD2DVDEU0030.iso CD into the MFD drive. It will start to update the firmware, which may take up to 30-40 minutes. Do not turn off the ignition or eject the CD during this process. When the update is done, press the NAV button again and remove the CD.

  • Unlock the DVD drive. Press the NAV button again and insert the UNLOCK CD. The unlocking process takes just a few seconds. The screen will show a progress bar in a loop, but once it completes a single cycle, it is safe to remove the CD from the unit. After that, your MFD2 DVD navigation system is unlocked and ready to use self-burned DVD+R DL disks.

Congratulations! You have successfully updated and unlocked your MFD2 DVD navigation system. You can now enjoy the latest maps and features on your device. However, you still need to burn your DVDs on good quality disks and at low speeds (2x) for optimal performance. You can find some compatible DVDs here.

Features of the MFD2 DVD Navigation System

The MFD2 DVD navigation system has many features that make it a useful and convenient device for your car. Some of the features are:

  • It displays street names, turn arrows, distance information, and other GPS data on the MFD+ (multifunction display) on your dashboard. You can also see the map on the 6.5 inch color LCD screen in the center console.

  • It speaks through the car stereo system and gives you voice guidance and warnings. You can adjust the volume and mute the voice with the buttons on the steering wheel or on the unit.

  • It has a RDS radio receiver that shows you the station name and genre on the screen. You can also store up to 24 preset stations in four categories (FM1, FM2, AM1, AM2).

  • It has a 6 CD changer in the armrest that can play audio CDs and CD-Rs. You can also connect an external audio source like an iPod or a USB stick with an aux-in cable.

  • It has a GALA function that increases the volume with faster speed to compensate for road noise.

  • It has a diversity antenna that switches to the one with the better signal for optimal reception.

Benefits of Updating and Unlocking Your MFD2 DVD Navigation System

Updating and unlocking your MFD2 DVD navigation system can bring you many benefits, such as:

  • You can use the latest maps and software that have more accurate and updated information. You can also access more features and settings that may not be available in older versions.

  • You can use self-burned DVD+R DL disks that are cheaper and easier to obtain than the original DVDs. You can also backup your DVDs and protect them from damage or loss.

  • You can use regional DVDs that cover a larger area than the CDs. For example, you can use a DVD that covers all of Canada and US instead of a CD that covers only one region.

  • You can improve the performance and stability of your device by fixing bugs and glitches that may occur in older versions.

By following our guide, you can update and unlock your MFD2 DVD navigation system in less than an hour. All you need are two CDs, a DVD burner, and a good quality DVD+R DL disk. You will also need the security code of your device in case you need to reinstall it. We hope you enjoy your improved and unlocked MFD2 DVD navigation system! 29c81ba772
